About Owlbert

Owlbert is the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute of Marketing Science's evidence server. It gives your AI assistant the Institute's empirical laws of growth, its verified NBD-Dirichlet model and its research library, so answers to marketing questions come from the Institute's evidence rather than the model's general training.

Who can use it

Sponsor members of the Institute. Access is by invitation: the Institute adds you to its member list and sends you a personal setup page. There is no self-registration. To ask about membership, email bill.page@marketingscience.info.

How to connect

Owlbert works with any AI assistant that accepts MCP connectors: Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini Enterprise and Grok.

  1. In your assistant, add a custom connector with the server address https://tools.ehrenbergbass.com/mcp. Nothing else needs filling in: the assistant reads Owlbert's sign-in settings itself.
  2. Click Connect. Owlbert's sign-in page opens. Sign in with the email and access token from your setup page, or with Microsoft if your organisation has set that up.
  3. Start a new chat and ask a marketing question. Your assistant calls Owlbert's tools and cites the Institute's laws and reports.

For IT departments and reviewers: what the tools do

Every tool reads; flag_research_question writes the one record you asked for. Owlbert speaks the Model Context Protocol over HTTPS with OAuth 2.1 sign-in.
